Team India will kick off its T20 World Cup campaign with a match against Ireland in New York on Wednesday. This game marks the beginning of India's pursuit of a major ICC trophy once again.
The last time India secured a major ICC title was in 2013, when they won the Champions Trophy. Their most recent World Cup victory came in 2011. India's sole T20 World Cup triumph occurred in the inaugural edition of the tournament in 2007.
In the current edition, India finds themselves grouped with Pakistan, Ireland, Canada, and the United States in Group A.
Six runs! A short delivery, perfectly suited to Rohit's strengths. He effortlessly pulls it away for a maximum over deep square-leg. Another six runs! Another short delivery, this time expertly dispatched over fine-leg for consecutive maximums.
Inventive shot from Pant as he shuffles across and pulls the ball behind the keeper. The ball goes high in the air, landing far enough from the keeper to allow for a couple of runs. Pant pulls the ball down the ground this time, and it trickles to the boundary.
FOUR! Rohit Sharma displays his skill once again as he manages to connect with a wide delivery outside off stump, resulting in an inside edge that races past the wicketkeeper for a boundary. SIX! A powerful shot from the captain as he confidently executes a pick-up pull, sending the ball sailing over the long-on boundary for the first maximum of the innings.
Delany showcases his skill with a confident pull shot, sending the ball soaring over deep mid-wicket for a six. Arshdeep delivers the next ball, resulting in a fortunate edge that earns Delany four runs. However, Arshdeep's following delivery is deemed a no ball. As White steps up to bat, Delany is unfortunately run out, bringing his impressive innings to a close.
Clean bowled! Hardik excels in the bowler's paradise as he delivers a perfect inswinger that uproots Tucker's stumps. Despite Tucker attempting a drive without proper foot movement, Hardik's skillful bowling technique proves to be too much for him.
Arshdeep dismisses the key player, skipper Sterling, with a well-executed delivery. Sterling was enticed by a good length ball in the middle, prompting him to attempt a powerful shot. However, he mistimed his swing, sending the ball soaring high into the air, only for it to be safely caught by Pant.
Arshdeep bowled from over the wicket to Balbernie, who quickly scored a single to get off the mark. Paul Sterling then took the strike and also opened his account by elegantly chipping the length ball towards cover for a couple of runs.

Rohit: We're going to bowl. Preparations have been alright. Have been managing ourselves in these new conditions. Has been challenging but we are all professionals. We played on a similar pitch and do know what to expect a little bit. I know it's going to be slightly different from what we're used to. But that's what the sport is. Not sure about the conditions too much, so thought having a target in front of us would be good. Guys missing out are Kuldeep, Sanju, Jaiswal and one more.
Stirling: Coming with pretty good prep, we were in Amsterdam recently. We've got plenty of matchwinners in our side, want them to show up on the day. We're looking to assess conditions early.
"In a Playing XI and in a T20 game, there'll always be that one or two slots that you might make the odd change. In general, we are quite settled with a combination in our heads, though I haven't announced it or I haven't said it. You know, honestly, we are very clear about the direction we're going in, the direction we're going in, but we've picked a squad, you know, that allows us to maybe make those one or two changes based on the condition" - Rahul Dravid on the India XI for the game
"It will be the morning of the match when we decide - I think because we haven't actually seen the ground yet. I think we've got to sort of keep everyone waiting on that front, but we're probably down to 12 or 13 if we're going to be honest. But we won't make the final call without seeing what we've got to play on." - Paul Stirling on Ireland XI
